List of 20 things I am teaching my daughter

Having had a mom and a maternal granny to teach me life’s lessons some GOOD and some BAD.I have made it my number one priority to help guide Jisele towards making better life choices. Some of the things that my mom taught me, I am now practicing, even though I didn’t listen to her at a time (yeah, that was me all right) but now that I am a mom, I have come to understand that it’s all about creating good habits and just being reminded that you are good enough and you can be or do anything you dream of. The same way, child expects tells us- “never say ugly things to your child, because they start to feel that way” I am hoping she will always remember these things and will live by them in fitting with her lifestyle.

20 Life’s lessons to my daughter

  1. You can be anything you dream to be“- sometimes in life one comes across a person(s) or life circumstances that make you feel like you cannot achieve or be anything you want to be. Remember dreams can come true with hard and determination, just keep moving forward.
  2. Listen to your inner voice“- some people call in a gut feeling if it doesn’t feel right, you probably should not be doing it or taking part in it.
  3. There is a higher power“- I call my higher power God, you will get to know him and when you do trust and understand will come easy. This will help you to get out of the hardest and darkest time, just remember to always thank him for all good things in your life.
  4. People are people“- yeah we just that people, we don’t deserve more respect than animals and nature also studies shows that people who have received kindness are more likely to pass it on to others, animals, and nature.
  5. Respect authority”– this is not just the law but rules and superior, in life there is always going to be someone high than you. You will get more respect for this.
  6. It’s not always about you“- and that is perfect fine, remember to let that person have their moment – part of being a good person is being selfless.
  7. Stand your ground“- a strong woman is always one that can stand her ground. You will need this skill one day when you have your kids.
  8. We eat to live“- food plays a huge role in our daily living, but should not be used as a distraction tool to deal with bad emotions. Your health will pay for it and that is not good, after all, we are what we eat.
  9. Don’t buy those shoes, pay your bills first“-don’t be fooled, by marketing strategies. You are always going to find a new love affair with a shoe.
  10. “Recycle”– not all rubbish is useless, this is another great way of looking after the planet, if not for you then for someone else. All I say Reduce Reuse Recycle
  11. Looks are not a skill they are genetic benefits“- Having great looks can help open doors, but not all doors that open are good for you. But a great skill will open doors that are good for you and more sustainable.
  12. “You don’t have to perfect”- sometimes we want to be perfect and mostly not for us but for others, just know we all have something we need to work on and once you know what yours is, work on it regularly, people will appreciate you more.
  13. “Love yourself at all times”– self-love and appreciation will help you to understand you are enough and if someone does not think so, then they should not be in your life.
  14. “Use your words wisely”– words can break or make someone, be kind even during that time when the world is trying your patients.
  15. “Just be happy”– happy girls are pretty girls.
  16. “Try that new thing”– life experience is not only based on everyday experiences, sometimes you have to go out there to find something different to learn from.
  17. “Be honest and genuine at all times”– you don’t have to an open book, but once someone opens the pages they need to feel your soul and get you, it will make your life easier.
  18. “Choose your friends wisely”– this will be in your life’s journey for most of your life, good friends are hard to come by. Once you find them don’t be too proud to work on the friendship.
  19. “Love your natural hair”– that is how it grows out of your scalp, it’s okay that it’s big and sometimes need a lot of attention. God made you that way with your parents (daddy and me) genetic in it. Your hair is perfect, trust me.
  20. “Education is power”– more powerful than money, it will help to unlock all your potential and in return, you will make money.
