From Moz-Swazi-SA, the month that has been.

Has it been a month since we left Moz? It feels longer than a month.

Maputo City-Mozambique

We decided to go on holiday before the badness of moving. I know the best thing to do would have been to come home and sort out the house before the furniture arrived. But we all know housework never finishes plus we needed a holiday.

Johannesburg means work, work, and very little play. Things just get crazy for me that I even forget to enjoy the simple things that life’s been giving to me.

Swaziland seemed like an obvious choice to relax before the storm, its close and I have never been there. Oh boy- Swazi didn’t disappoint, such a beautiful country with gorgeous pine forest and mountains its green and untouched, Swaziland made me feel grounded and peaceful.

And I was also formally invited to an event at a special needs school in Swaziland for their annual charity event, but because the event was on the day after we land in SA, I didn’t make it. I am hoping for better planning in 2018.
Because it’s a relaxed holiday, taking time to volunteer is ideal. The Ekwetsembeni Special Needs School in Mbabane brings hope to all the kids that need a little extra attention towards learning.

An ideal holiday for people who enjoy the green more than the beach. It’s so easy chilled from cows roaming the streets to green forests, and very curvy roads (which can be unsafe when driving at night) with some of the loveliest people I ever came across. We truly enjoyed Swaziland…

Happy cows=great meat

Then it was home time.

As soon we walked into the door of my house my heart dropped I was almost in tears at the state of the house. It’s going to take me a while to recover from the shock at what people can do to your property when rented.

Never again!

We have had contract workers daily since we came and Joao had to back to work on the 3rd of December, which meant I have to make sure everything is running smooth (it never does) This feels like we just bought a new house and we are since finding out problems as it goes.

Why are we back sooner than planned, you must be wondering?
My husband’s company was bought over by a Chinese soon after we arrived in Mozambique with that came to a lot of changes.

If I have learned anything in the last couple of years is my plans don’t always match the one’s destiny has for me. Its that feeling you get after training a whole year for a marathon only to not finish the race due to leg cramps- that’s destiny right there.

Oh well, we are back and happy, now its time to get back to training for my next race of life.

Wishing you and your family a very happy 2018!

    Hi Nonds,
Welcome back to South Africa – hopefully we can get together for coffee soon.
Oh dear – I’m so sorry about your house – some people just have no regard for the property of others – we found that when we rented out my folks’ house – and they had been so proud of their home – I’m glad they didn’t live to see the mess it became.

So good luck with sorting it out and wishing you all only happy times in 2018

We saw some rented properties a few years ago when we were looking. Some of them were SO terrible, I couldn’t believe how people were happy to live 🙁 Sorry you had to deal with that!!!
